Mom's Noodles

Let's see what is it I need?
Eggs, flour and stamina
Oh yes, and a sturdy fork
Cracking the eggs in the bowl
Mustn't forget the salt
After beating together
Slowly I add the flour.

Now comes the time
I need you the most
For a moment I hear a voice
Softly, smoothly, gently
Throw out the fork
And
Get your hands messy.

Do I have to?
I say to no one
I oblige anyway
Mixing the sticky dough with hands and fingers.

The dough I place on the bread board
Now It's time to roll
Thin and long with time to dry
My mind returns to you.

Thinking of how many mouths you fed

Can I do the same?
My niece says I do
I just don’t know

Because we all believe

That Mom's Noodles were like no others.

Time gone by...

A gulp in my throat
As I drive up into the driveway
Taking notice of the cracked peeling siding
Formerly white now gray.

Reaching the door
With the faded wreath from July four
I walk on in.

The same decay seeps forth
A crumbling wall here and there
Gaps between the floor and wall
Cobwebs built in corners.

The carpet I see from ages gone by
No rake needed here
Tiled linoleum peeled up at the corners
From many traveling feet.

Oh how this place has changed through the years
Standing and looking
Words form in my mind
At one time You were home to me
Now I shake my head and shudder.

Beach Cottage

Let Life In

Scream Someone!

Shout!

Anything

Let some kind of life in

Holler!

Jump up and down

Come on in and Live

Cry

Yell

Do Something

A happening needs to occur

For life seems afar

Not even here

Breathe

Live

Share

Love and joy

And even your sadness

Just don’t sit there!

Let Life In!

Seashore looms ahead
Heavy load burdens to shed
Breathing less labored.

Directions in hand
Yellow blue beach cottage found
Welcomes home my soul.

Salt, sand, fills the air
Cool air, sunshine, cloudless day
Hopes to explore beach.

Anticipation
To relax, enjoy, this time
Appealing senses.

Sleigh bed with pillows
Duvet silky smooth texture
Pleasing to my soul.

Glancing at cottage
Antique honey furnishings
Beautiful to me.

Devine design home
Beach cottage looking to shore
Lifted burdens now.

Great to be alive
Relaxed breathing on cue
Soul knows no better.
